Get to Know the Students Demand Action Advisory Board: Makayla Jordan

Makayla Jordan is a high school senior from Birmingham, Alabama. She is leader in the Alabama Virtual Field Office and also a Summer of Action captain. As a sophomore, Makayla was upset about the inaction of leaders after Courtlin Arrington was shot in a local school in Birmingham and little was done about it. She wanted to make a difference and started a Students Demand Action Birmingham chapter with friends. From there she joined the Summer of Action, making over 89,000 calls to register voters in America. Makayla enjoys volunteering at the Birmingham Museum of Art and also is a published poet. Makayla is glad to help continue the fight in ending gun violence and mobilizing youth voters.
